OK Liketoride, is this a wrap? Let us know how you spent your sheckles this Black Friday, and what the results are... we appreciate feedback, and why you did what you did.[/quoe]
Indecision rules, provoked by my profound lack of knowledge on this subject (although it's many times improved over what it was at the beginning of this thread.
Some of my current thinking:
I would very much like to have a Xantrex Truecharge 2 but the money just isn't there at this time.
If the main reason for having a >50 amp charger is speed I can manage slower recharge times (again, more time than money).
In my thinking there are 3 contenders:
The Boondocker/Powermax
The Megawatt charger
The Iota Backwoods modified unit. This one was mentioned by
a poster way back on this thread but I forgot it until today.

The Megawatt has a huge cost advantage over the other two. The Boodocker and the Backwoods seem quite similar as best I can judge, and both require some manual input, again as best I can determine. I believe all 3 meet my 14.8 bulk charge and 15.5 equalizing volt requirement. The Megawatt is only $65 with shipping, the other two in the $205 - 210 range.
My thinking is buy the Megawatt, use it in conjunction with my WFCO, and if it proves to be too much of a pain in the rear I hopefully will be able to afford the Xantrex and/or solar sometime next year. Does this seem like a logical, reasonable approach?
I will be sure to post my final decision, as requested. I appreciate the generous time so many of you have spent giving me information and advice.
