I lived through most of this era too. One of many things I did while in high school is to become a car nut, motorcycle nut, AND airplane nut. In fact, I beat the Beach Boys to "Little Deuce Coupe",...began building mine while in high school and put on the street in 1959. Here we are posing for a photo, which ended ended up on the cover of a magazine. About a week later we left for a big car show in Long Beach CA (not to enter my coupe, just to hang out). BTW you guys know what a piece of equipment called a growler is used for? Hint: notice the generator on this engine.
