Correct, should be no real problem, other than smell, and if your galley tank, and shower tank are separate, the shower tank would smell best. :) Also each tank should be vented out the roof to help for smell.
If the trap is easy to get at, best to replace it, and not worry about it. My shower P trap is easy to get at from my basement storage.
