which part of the shower do I replace?
the split part (no leaks yet) or the whole thing.
maybe as a temp measure we can swap it for the seldom used external shower.

okay if I get a Oxygenics shower from home depot or wherever. which model?
and how do I replace the other one.
parts folks want to replace the whole thing for $20 with the same thing as is there now
thanks all - Yup. You can do it for $6. I too would suggest the Oxygenics at $32. A great upgrade and worth the extrqa $26.
CW Oxygenics - My shower head serves me well - I'd just replace the hose.
- the OP poses a simple question about a problem requiring a $6.00 part to fix. he gets helpful suggestions to spend $70 instead? Perhaps he should rip out the tub shower and install a SPA or jacuzzi instead?

Me 3- if the shower head is adequate for your needs, just get a new hose as previously stated.
