ShurFlo pump leaking after relocating it

I had to change the location of my shurflo pump by a few inches recently when I repaired my fresh water tank, and it immediately developed a leak where the motor connects to the valves. I didn't knock it around or anything. All the screws holding it together are tight. There is a little tension being put on the pump due to the inflexibility of the new water line coming from the tank (previously it was a flexible, softer hose and now it's the harder plastic kind). All I can think of is that this little bit of tension is pulling enough on the connection point to create a tiny separation between the motor and valves. But that seems absurd to me. Does anyone know if these pumps are delicate enough that this would be the case?

  • Thanks for your responses. It is definitely not leaking from any of the fittings though, it's coming from the crack between the motor and the valves. I uploaded a picture of it as my rig pic because I don't know how to insert a picture in a post. I don't know if y'all can see it, but the leak is where the black plastic parts meet just below the lower screw in the pic. I guess I'll have to take it apart and see whether the diaphragm is damaged or something.
  • No, they're not normally that sensitive. There must be something else going on.. Maybe take the connections apart and look for a crack in the fittings.
  • I to just moved my pump to a flat location so it is easier to winterize, I used pipe dope on every connection and doubled up the hose clamps. I hope this helps.
