If an SO battery is a Gel Battery
Gel batteries have a fixed max charge rate that is less than FLA. Or AGM of the same capacity
High charge rate will causes bubbles and ruptures in the Gelled electrolyte by heating it up, damage the cells, causing it to lose capacity
Read up on gel cells:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VRLA_battery#Gel_battery
Which are lead acid batteries with fumed silica (aka Si02) added to the electrolyte and calcium doped plates. 'SiO2' batteries are gel cells with extra silica powder - this technology was patented in the 70's and has been commercially available since the 2000s, yet no main stream battery manufacturer has adopted it. Read in to that what you will.
