Thanks for the details on earlier Ford alternators. I hope that the one in my 2005 Ford chassis is at least a 3G!
That being said, the OP should first make absolutely certain that with the RV's motor idling, the voltage on the terminals of the engine starting battery almost exactly matches the voltage on the terminals of the coach batteries. Probably replacement of the alternator is not necessary if these voltages don't closely match ... something else is wrong.
I don't trust RV coach battery/engine alternator interconnect solenoid (contact) longevity very much at all. IMHO, this shouuld be the first - and easiest - thing to check.
