Jeff, just for my future information bank, do you have the SWM head.
I ask because I just converted my Travler from the four coax output to SWM by adding the magic box and power inserter. I would love to see a block diagram of the Travler interface boxes. Or a simple explanation of what what it looks for when it starts. And then how it fine tunes.
I called them several years ago to ask how this thing searches and was told its "proprietary", but they said there was no GPS involved in the search routine. If I get someone close to this side of the world with a SK-3005 that confirms theirs takes just as long to search AND also cannot find 110, I'll call the factory and start complaining about updates. Hopefully they weren't as short sighted as they were on the original 18" GPS version.
Bob: It shouldn't matter which birds are used for a skew alignment as far as a search routine is concerned, you just need enough spacing to figure out a skew angle to track the arc. But the problem is that the offset between the birds is determined by the LNB head and there are millions of those out there. I'll see if I can figure out how to contact my friend who used to work for Direct. He was one of those who was involved in future proofing the systems many years ago and used to ramble on about behalf they were doing and had planned, and it went in one ear and out the other; didn't care at the time. I suspect this is a Winegard issue, just gotta prove it.
