Slide fluid leak.

Question

I have a 2005 Cedar Creek 30RLBS and I went to close the slide this weekend and it wouldn't close.  I went to check and the hydraulic fluid reservoir is empty and I have oil all around the compartment.  I could not see any leaking when I operated the slide switch but the reservoir may have been too empty to spray anything.  What type of oil is best used for this and any suggestions on troubleshooting the issue?  Thanks very much.

Most use auto transmission fluid.Put 1 qt in to find where leak is at a connection or a hose leak.

Mine uses Dexron (GM) trans fluid or hydraulic oil.
