If you are getting voltage to the slide motor when you press the switch but the slide doesn't move but it does move when hooked directly to a 12v source, obviously you are not getting full current flow. Take every connection off all the way to the battery and check for corrosion and tightness and clean each one. The motor may ground through the frame so check all of the attaching bolts.
