Yes, I posted it before, but only got one response to my question. So I thought I would try over here.
I tried to smooth out the wrinkled up material and flatten the seam out a little. Glue from underneath is now on top of the seal, which is attracting all the debris. I also measured the location of the marks, and they line up perfectly with the slide locks.
