My last trailer did the same thing. The white plastic strip was broken in the middle, probably from me stepping on it when the slide was in..
It was a bit of work but I installed rollers under the carpet flap. The slide worked much smoother after that and didn't drag on the carpet anymore.
If your handy, this is a great modification.
