Had the same problem with our main slide that brulaz had" Our slide has a ram with rack and pinion mechanism. It was improperly installed with the wrong shear pin, but once the torn-up mechanism was replaced with one using a grade 8 bolt, the mechanism has been fine."
Seems there was a recall on it that we weren't aware of. It's a 32' 2006 Georgie Boy Pursuit. Since it was fixed, no problems at all. Had a TT with slide before this and had no problems. It was permanently on site in a CG with slide out for over 5 years until we moved. Was very worried about it coming back in - worked immediately. Would agree with Sound Guy's suggestion that you make sure you have access to fridge, bathroom and beds when slide (s) are in - sometimes don't have room to put them out or when you want a cold bottle of water while on the road. Would suggest one that opens flat - not one that has to drop once it's out and rise to be retracted. Just another thing that could go wrong. Would not ever have another rig without at least 2 slides. Once you decide to get one, you'll really appreciate why I think.
