On a previous trailer: I didn't want to putz with detaching the slide awning....so I belly crawled between the awning and the slide roof to do the maintenance.
Wasn't pretty, but I got the job done...
Oh, and..
don't do it on a hot day...it gets warm under there.
don't wear anything sharp like a belt buckle.
