I used Dinosaur Adjustable Thermistor instead of the Snip-the-Tip only because I didn't want to cut anything, but both methods appear to work very well.
On my 12-year-old Dometic NDS1292, the fridge temp usually stays between 34-38 degrees instead of hovering around 40.
