I disagree with some of the statements. In particular, the high rate on LI. c1 is possible but not recommended.

I didn't quote any Li discharge rates, however you may be interested to know that most of the Winston and CALB cells I deal with have rates greater than 4C yes, pulling 800+ amps from a 200 Ah cell is specified by the manufacturer.
*****************************
Not all LI jars are made to "play together well", in fact some companies flat out say "don't do it".
*****************************
true, but then one would normally assemble a battery string with matching cells.
*****************************
The other rub about LI is their cold weather charging problem. I'd never be able to use them.

correct, I intended to cover this under a separate post..
with the right setup you could fit them internally and
keep them warm inside.. !

If the wiring is balanced (which it should be) then lead acid jars can be placed in parallel successfully. By successfully I mean getting 9 years of service.

seems to be a contentious subject here with RV'ers
however, RV and off grid has different usage cycling and
parallel is always a last resort if there is no better design solution. this will be addressed in a later post

A few of us are using telecom jars. It certainly beats laying down in the snow to check electrolyte levels. It is too soon to say if cycle life will be an issue, but I'm at about 18 months so far. These are "take outs" from cell towers, so they were not brand new. The price was right.

yes, I understand.. but be aware that they were not designed
for high cycling..
if you start pulling 50 or 60% DOD then they will **** out
fast. if you can keep to 20% DOD then you have a chance of another few years...

My ultimate battery bank would be 800 to 1000 amp-hour 2 volt Surrette jars in a
48 volt bank. Alas, I'll never be able to afford such a lovely system.

Yes I too have eyes bigger than my stomach!
those Surrette's would weigh more than your RV and truck combined - LOL
