socket size for heater element

Home depot and Lowes sell a cheap element socket wrench for around $6. They are usually right by the elements. The 1400W or 1440W elements they sell will work in your WH. I found Camco elements at Ace hardware.

The real trick is to have a 1.5 inch socket that is flush at the end, and not rounded.

Anode rod is 1-1/16" or 27mm.

My Suburban water heater anode rod takes a 1 1/16th socket. Be sure to get a deep socket or use an extension for easier access.

The stamped steel socket type wrench I have downstairs measure 1 9/16". It doesn't have a size marked, but that is what I got when I measured it with a set of dial calipers.

I got it at the RV shop, was $6 I think.

Head to the nearest hardware store and measure one of the heating elements they have on the rack.
