SOL Solar Kit

Has anyone out there ever seen a solar system like the one offered by Wasatch Clean Energy located in SLC, UT? I saw it at the recent RV show here in Salt Lake. It uses 2 - 290 watt industrial solar panels, 2 - 12V AGM batteries to generate 24 volts, controller and a 1500 watt pure sine wave inverter. I am curious to hear opinions on this system. Cost is $4,000 plus $300 installed. It looks like a pretty slick system and is in line with costs for similar combo units I have priced out.

I would read this in detail. This is info from someone who uses solar energy.

I recently priced out what he had and found I could get more than what he had at the time of the writing for about $2000.

I haven't bought it yet as efficiency and cost continue to decline and I am not yet full time but I am keeping up with what works. Hope this helps.

$400 install seems fair. I went with my own components for half the price. 1500w inverter seems small for microwave use. Just two batteries is light for 1500 watts let alone 2000 watts inverter that I would recommend. Another panel or two and more battery and you can skip the generator in most conditions.
  • "Slick" is where they can sell two panels worth under $300 each, a $300 controller, $400 worth of batteries, and a $500 inverter (total $1,800) for $4,000.
