Take your time, there is the basic info needed to slap something up and the nuances that will make it best for you. Choose one component that doesn't interact well with a number of other things and you may limit yourself.
I was lucky to be able to use my cheap systems portable. I had solar while I learned and have a much better idea of what the optimum panels, controller and batteries will be. Enough power to provide for our wants in good weather and at least our needs other times. A controller that can handle the voltages of the panel, can deal with the batteries charging requirements and have the features needed to allow the system to be hands off while in storage. All that's left is what batteries and where, I have until spring to work it all out.
