Yes, wiring is what it is all about. I have hardly any line loss at the 12v level, never mind the 24v level, so it makes little diff to me whether I use series or parallel for amps to the battery based on voltage input to the controller.

Obviously, that is not the usual situation, so the OP info may not be of any use to a lot of people. You do what your situation makes you do.
