It is amazing, the false assumptions some have here. The lack of understanding on how MPPT works is quite evident from the above post. For instance your comment , the power to the battery is gauged by the the output Watts divided by the battery voltage does not take into the account that the MPPT controller is converting excess voltage into added amps that a PWM controller cannot do. " output Watts " as you use it is a false assumption. It is based on a batteries voltage. Actual power derived from a 36 cell panel by an MPPT controller is higher. The excess voltage of 17 or 18 volts is transformed into excess amps going to the battery.....the " watts " from the controller is higher than an equivalent PWM controller can produce from a 36 cell panel. This is not just for bulk charge, but appplies to Absorb and float too. I don't know where you guys are getting this nonsense about MPPT vs PWM but is sure as heck isn't from quality charge controller providers like Morningstar and Blue Sky.....
