at first you'd want current to taper and not drop say 5% (or any amount, say 30% at sub zero conditions) to match batt voltage. What voltage is it 'tracking' in a high voltage series setup? There may not be enough current non tracking at first to maintain set point. Batt voltage 'power' can be much less than tracking power of a high voltage system.
why change from tracking to something else? just use on/off duty cycle.
Is this semantics since there are off times and therefore less than max power?
