The sensor in the case is for the protection of the unit itself, not for compensating for the temperature of the battery.
You should have a chart for your battery of charging voltages for different temperatures. Use that as a guide as to what you set the Eco-W to do. Even my fancy Morningstar controller can't adjust to extreme conditions like the Lifeline manual wants. I have to manually adjust it when the temps get too high or low.
On a daily basis we may see temp swings from below freezing to over 70 in a day. The bank doesn't change much through out the day during these times, it's mass takes a while to cool or heat up.
