When alternator has 6ga wire, it works sort of like a generator - better than 7-pin, still not good if you want a full charge in a reasonable time.
Yes well the whole thing with me is I dont want a gen.. For one its a pain to lug around, and two I have a one stage charger.. 12 amps max @ 13.6 volts.. So if I went generator I would have to upgrade the converter..
Solar was not an option for me either due to money also.. But Panel and wiring I got for free..
The controller may not be able to do absorb time but as stated that may not be a good thing if it could. The morning star some said has a 3 hr abs time.. Thats not good, and the only way to adjust is to get the computer hook up thing... More money..
So to compensate I just set the float higher as stated when it comes out of bulk..
