No, Abs time is necessary - typically, between 30 and 90 minutes. Morningstar have adjustable time, you can change from default 3 hours to whatever you need. Yes, this is often done through the network port. On my controller I can do this right on the controller, no port. High-end models have automatically adjustable time.
Only in storage you can have Abs time very short, a minute a two. This is what Eco does.
Slightly higher Float voltage will not make it up for missing Abs time.
Well - you have what you have, better than no controller.
OK but just because I am new to this I would like to understand.. If there was a set time for abs wouldnt the amps taper anyway??
I dont know what the amps were when it came out of abs and went into float.. ( I assume it switched over when the battery hit 14.8 volts..)
I do know when I got back home it was in float showing 3 amps or so.. So since I could not get it back into abs/mppt I turned up the volts on float from 13.6 to 14.5..
This increased the amps to 10-11 amps..
So IMO this should top off the batterys properly? I left it there until the amps once again went down to about 3 amps and put it back to 13.6..
It then went into sleep mode, and about an hour later only showed it charging at .9 amps..
I am not sure what I am missing.
