I worry that the cheap connectors imply equally "bad" stuff on the inside, but it's a done deal. You don't need 6 AWG, or even 8 AWG, on a configuration which dishes out less than 9A current. When it comes to wire size, High Voltage is your friend. ;) #10 would be great, even #12 would be OK. The difference in Voltage Drop and "eye-squared-R" Power Loss, between using 6-AWG and 10-AWG, will be... almost invisible.
