Solar Output in Shade?

I'm still toying with adding solar to alleviate running the genny every day. But since out favorite no-hookup sites are shaded, what % of rated output can I expect from a 24V panel and MPPT controller? Can I get 50 watts out of a 200W panel?
  • 90% might be optimistic depending on the shade. The good thing is that shade is not always static. Sun moves, shade moves. Even a couple hours of good sun or partial shade will produce some good energy. If you are under a complete canopy you will not get enough while camped to be worth while. You may start seeking out some sunnier or partial shade sites however.
  • Please define "shade"

    50w/13.5v battery = 3.7 amps
