Well you guys win! Rethinking my set up and where to locate things. I am now looking into the Morningstar PWM TS-45 w/remote panel. Hope that will give me a little margin on what I would have my planned solar output. I am sure I will end up with more question after reading up on it. Thanks Gary
Awesome controller, I've got one too. I'm at 280 watts of the Cynergy panels and I built with the intention of getting up to 2 more for 560 watts total, but I haven't been compelled to add on yet since the 280 watts have been serving us just fine.
I have many times been tempted to buy the remote panel but I have not. I get by just looking at the status LEDs and using a 12V plug-in voltmeter to tell me what the charge voltage is at. Knowing that, I can guess well enough the status of my system. But a great thing about that controller is that it is fully programmable and you can interface with a PC or laptop with a RS232 cable to see everything that is going on. The key is you need an RS232 STRAIGHT THROUGH cable, not a null modem cable. Modern laptops don't usually have a RS232 port anymore, so you'll need a USB to RS232 converter.
