The DM panels you are looking at have a high VMP
Normally one would use these with a MPPT controller...
Okay, admittedly this is where I was trying to buy myself some shortcuts. I've read enough solar stuff here over the years plus HandyBob's pages and other similar stuff to become dangerous, but not knowledgable. I identified someone who was willing to help with design and he recommended those panels and said not to waste money on MPPT for this size/config system. I think this may have partially been driven by my small battery bank and the thought that with this wattage I shouldn't need to eek out every bit of juice? Not sure.
Ideally, I'm hoping that by the time I need my next set of batteries, the lithium options will have progressed enough to allow a much bigger bank in my existing small space, so I don't want to shortchange myself. I suppose if the controller ever became a limiting factor I could upgrade at that time?
I've already purchased everything except the wire and minting bits and pieces.
So, was buying a PWM the wrong move? Can anyone help me understand this better?
