An interesting point. How did you come up with the 20%? I did not experience this heat effect with my mppt controller and 200 watt panels on my boat that is made out of fiberglass which does not distribute heat.
I simply glued the flex panels down and they work fine. Are they as efficient as my non-flex panels that are mounted on the surface with clamps(with no air space)-- I have no idea, but they both perform well for my application. Also, the flex and non-flex panels both absorb a lot of heat during the day. My IR gun measures the heat on both of them to be near the same.
Do you have some empirical data that you have actually measure that you can share. That is what I am looking for rather than some theory stuff. Like they say in Missouri-- show me :-)
