Solar Panel Placement on Roof

Got me some cardboard and went up on the roof.

Panel dimensions - 58.2" × 26.4" × 1".
Cardboard dimensions - 58.25" x 26.5" (roughly)

    I would put them where they are likely to get the least shading. I wouldn't worry about their orientation to the rig if you can accomplish the above.

    Based on what I can see, I would fill that areas near the skylight with panels.

  • I like pic 3 the best so far. I can't tell what's behind it, but you want to stay away (as much as possible) from shadow-making vents, and also allow for walking, tilting, and adding more panels.

    Given those criteria, #3 pulled even farther back, fits.

  • I'm thinking two oriented north-south in the open space and one in the back (also north-south). Thoughts?
