The four Kyocera panels on the roof are wired at the panel junction as noted above. Heavy wall cross link insulated wire was used. 2 bakelite boxes were used to isolate polarity. All cavities were filled with GE dielectric silicone grease.
I built Quicksilver t endure far beyond my lifetime. And serve with a level of near zero problems. I am certain the 51 watt rating of the solar panels has degraded significantly over the last 30-years.
When doing all this stuff, I realized the day would come when I would be unable to access the roof and perform maintenance and repairs. That day arrived perhaps a decade ago. I have better things to outwit.
