Don't laugh, people.
According to Scientific American - quite a reputable magazine - TV is linked to antisocial behavior and lower IQ:

They also found that children with inherited risk factors predisposing them to behavioral difficulties, will likely spend more time watching TV, so you can't blame the TV alone. But sitting all day in front of TV is not helping the situation, either.
