If all you want is preventing battery from dying in longterm storage - not to live offgrid with the battery fed by solar - you only need to unscrew red trailer cable going to the battery. This works for 2, maybe 3 months. For a longer storage you have to put the battery on trickle charger plugged into 110V at home - or get a small solar panel ~25-50W, this is what manufacturers often do, slapping a small panel onto air conditioner cover. With $20-30 controller.
