Well treed sites are where roof mounted solar would be anywhere from severely limited to at times totally useless. Portable, where you can follow the sun throughout the day is the solution, but in the OP's case not a realistic solution if his intent is to be away from his site and mountain biking during daylight hours. The OP hasn't indicated at all what his current battery reserve may be but since he already has a genset perhaps the better solution would be to invest in a pair of flooded GC-2s which likely offer the most AH capacity for $$$ spent and take along his current battery (or batteries) for back up, knowing that he'll have his genset available to recharge any of them, regardless of what the sun exposure may (or may not) be.
