They often will not do their specified 14.4v but get stuck at 13.8v, which will run on the 1000w gen but take "forever" to recharge the batteries.
You can solve that for some money, say $300 including shipping? :(
The Absorption Stage is not used so much when recharging off the generator. You do "50-80" or 50-90" to take advantage of the high amp Bulk Stage--see my ugly graph above for all that.
crosscheck knows some Mainland prov parks where solar can work, so you could get some suggestions from him ( PM ? ) No hope for solar in the few I have been in.
