Not effective at all ... what you're looking for is much greater than a 9 amp charge if you want reasonable genset run time and 2) that generator charging output is unregulated, meaning it can easily overcook your batteries if you're not careful. Genset owners who know what they're doing ignore it.
BTW, we still don't what what battery (or batteries) you currently have and what you may be interested in adding - 6v, 12v, flooded, AGM, brand, model, etc, etc??? :h
