The OP has some time to get this sorted, but no time to reserve prov park camp sites for the "summer." No idea what that involves or where or when or if solar sky or not among the choices he is looking at. Ask a Mainlander. This part of the plan is the most shaky IMO. Might have to stay at private campgrounds with full hook-ups and spend more to get it done.
Meanwhile, the 1000w Canadian Honda can be paralleled but the 2000w cannot, unlike the US versions. If Op's 1000 is Can, he can get another 1000 and parallel them or attempt to trade his 1000 for a 2000 whichever works out better.
IMO the OP would do well with a PD converter and Charge Wizard of up to 70 amps to run with the 2000 gen (or two 1000s) on two 6s. (See the ugly graph for 70 on 220)
BTW the 1000 is a 900 and the 2000 is a 1600. No idea if two 1000 make 1800 while a single 2000 makes 1600. Whatever, find the best deal.
I can only reserve BC parks 4 months out. So I'm not yet able to book anything for my trip with them. I'll be entering BC about July 11th. Couple days in North Van most likely, then off to the Island for 8 days or so. Likely parked around Courtney/Cumberland for the majority of time. Then back to the mainland a week in Squamish (already booked in a private campground owned by friends) and then continue Whistler and work back eastward.
Camping will be primarily dictated by access to the best mountain biking in combination with the best camping. Preference to Prov parks over private, unless the private is worth the extra $$ or prov parks are just too far away. But the trip is all about biking. Its my wife's and I's passion, so access to that is beyond #1 priority.
Stays will be 3-7 days per place between moving.
I'll keep on researching. I'm confident I'll come up with a solution and this thread has provided a lot of good information. I definitely want solar. We use the trailer a fair amount and until now I've kept our dry camping limited to 2-3 days at a time, which has been successful on our 1 battery and somewhat conscious energy conservation. However the places we generally prefer to camp require more self sufficiency and I don't want my trip to be dictated by needing power at least every couple days. I'll invest as much as is I can now to put in a reasonable solar system and upgrade my ability to use my/a generator more effectively. Hopefully I can find that right combination to make it successful. $$$ is always a consideration.
