I'm also not going to get myself all worked up about power. I don't live my life that way. I know we are, and can be very conservative users. If we get a stretch where solar is just not viable, I'll use the generator if/when I can. But I'm not going to let this all dictate the trip. I have no issues switching off/unhooking the batteries, putting some ice in the fridge and using head lamps for a couple days if I had to.
Power pundits will always have you going over the top. :R There's no need to go without 12 vdc power entirely even if your trailer batteries are depleted as you still have your truck from which to draw. For light duty use such as running LED lights and the water pump just plugging your trailer into the truck will have little impact on your truck battery. I have but one G27 battery but do on occasion want to use our coffee maker or toaster when we have no shore power so I use my 1000 watt PSW inverter and load support the trailer battery with the truck. Simply plugging the trailer into the truck will accomplish this but I went one step further and wired up a 4 gauge booster cable long enough to run from the truck battery directly to the trailer battery, the result being much less voltage drop under heavy load. Works just fine for incidental use. :B
