FWIW, I have the solar controller, the inverter, the converter, and the batteries, of course, all on one bus. Circuit protection (fuses) are all at the bus and the battery is fused at the positive terminal.

So it's OK to have the negative wire from the solar charge controller to the negative buss behind the converter and not to the negative battery terminal?
