I have honda 2000's and the new 2200. I'd say the noise level is basically the same. I can't tell any noticeable difference. By the spec's full load is about 2db quiter on the 2200 and 4db @ 1/4 load.
At idle the seem to be the same, likewise at full throttle. 1/4 load who knows.
