It is life truth that it is not who manufactured the part that matters the most, but how he is controlled.
I happen to have 30+ years old machine wrenches "Made in China". They were top of quality "chrome-vanadium" made for European market, when US suppliers never bought them. They outlived several Craftsman sets to date and will fit where thick-wall Craftsman will not.
Lately with global industrialization wife Mercedes has less and less parts made in Germany. Electric plugs are from Czech republic, voltage regulators from India.
Again, not important who manufacture part, as long as the production meets high end assembler specifications.
So maybe the 0.2 oz difference is just casting difference, maybe there is more to it.
BTW the pneumatic fan clutch for my Prevost cost in 4 digits. Thermo-switch is separate and not included.
