Splendide 2100xc vented washer dryer

We just installed a used unit in our MH. Never had one before. I started the dryer and let it run to verify it was venting to the outside well. It did vent outside but it was also blowing hot air out of the area where you put the soap. Is this normal? It may be but I can see that it would add some heat to you home if it's running a while...
  • I've had one for 11 years. That is not normal on mine.
Maybe the vent hose came loose.
  • I didn't think it was 'normal'. The vent hose didn't fall off. The only reason I can think that it would be come out the front would be if the hose was bent or clogged. I think I'll pull it back out and run it without the vent hose to see if that makes a difference..Anything else you can think of to check?
  • I have the same model, not normal.
I'm sure the rubber hose isn't seated correctly into the drum.

Call the number in the manual they are very helpful.

X2, Call the help number. They are great.
  • Thanks! I sent them an email early this morning but I'll give them a call during business hours as well!
  • It's working normal. All the others do it as well, it's just that the owners don't know it.

Their is a rubber boot between the soap dispenser and the inner drum. This boot has a water trap in it. When the dryer mode starts you will hear the water valve open for about one to two seconds to put some water in that trap preventing hot air from escaping thru the soap dispenser.

Same EXACT thing happed to me. I was drying clothes with the water shut off. while drying I noticed hot air escaping from the detergent dispenser. I turned off the dryer, turned on the water & herd the 2 second fill B4 drying cycle.

    Their are three "ports" between the outside world and that inner drum;

The blower/heater assembly that sits on the top of the outer drum.
The rubber boot in the upper rear that vents hot air out the back to the dryer hose....Note that this boot can get plugged up with lint.

The rubber boot/water trap located on the upper left front of the drum. At the start of the drying cycle a shot of water is dispensed into that boot creating a water trap that prevents heat from escaping out the soap dispenser.

Note that both hot & cold water must be on for a complete cycle. I have a leaking water valve on the hot side. Until I can get a replacement valve &I have just cold water on & I have to select cold only.

Funny seeing all the "mine does not do that" posts because both the Splendide 2000S and your 2100xc model do it. Others must have a different model! LOL
  • Thanks for the response! I haven't turned on the water yet, so that may very well explain it!

I have used my 2100XC for 5 1/2 years full time and I have wondered why there is always a shot of water before drying starts. Now I know!

    Thank you.

I have a 2000S and have never noticed any shot of water, but did have the problem of hot wet air coming out the soap dispenser sometimes. But not all the time. And it's always hooked up to water when I use it.

A kind person on one of these forums said to add a little bit of water in the soap dispenser to make it stop. I add maybe 1/8 cup if I notice the hot air, and if that doesn't stop it, I add a little more, and it has always stopped the hot air coming out.
