Split 50 amp to two 30 amps?

Fist let me say that this is for a marine application. A 50' Tollycraft. My brother has a 50' Tollycraft and the boat has two 30 amp male connectors that feed the on board electrical system.

Is there a connector that can split the 50 amp feed from the dock box to two 30 amp female connectors that would go to the boat?

Currently he's using a 30 amp. cord from the dock box to one of the two 30 amp connections on boat but that's not providing enough juice.

Thanks in advance....

  • Thanks for the input, I found a couple that will work, and some of the links are spot on. Look like 150 to 200 bucks is the going price.

I noted by surfing the web that many RVer's use these adapters to split out a 50 amp. service to two 30 amps for two RV's. Or the run one 30 amp to their RV and then use a 20 amp converter on the other leg to run a free standing A/C or other HD appliance.

For some reason his boat electrical won't function properly unless both 30 amp connectors are being fed. And I thought that RV electric was complicated.

    Thanks again for the input.....
  • Not hard to do, but I'd have an electrician check the work, especially if one hasn't done it before, especially in a marine setting that is extremely hard on anything electrical. The biggest trick next to safety is balancing the two 50 amp legs as much as you can.
  • You may have to build it.

Parts are available at Home Depot and Menard's.
