While it could be a need for larger wires, it would not hurt to check that the connections are good and tight first. In particular, if it's plugged in via a lighter plug, make sure that it's making good contact there all around.
The squeal is a low voltage alarm on the inverter. Since your battery voltage is fine, there must be a voltage drop somewhere between the battery and the inverter.
