We like to install the Power Inverters as close to the battery banks as possible and still be inside for weather protection. I use 4AWG size cable going directly to the battery main switch area keeping the total distance around 5-feet or so.
Then I can run the 120VAC lines coming from the Power Inverter almost any distance required inside the trailer.
My long runs uses those multitap Extension cords that also has an ON-OFF switch on it. I have this power strip mounted to the back of the cabinet top keeping all of the wiring cables hid from view. This makes it easy to turn the power strip ON-OFF as needed...
