Wow, you're right! I checked pure-gas.org and they only list 16 stations in all of CA. That surprised me. I have 8 or 9 places within about 5 miles of my house that sell ethanol-free gas (87 octane, too). That's all I'll use in my 5 year old lawnmower. I just run it dry in November, and add fresh gas in April. No other precautions. The Honda engine started on the first pull this year.
