Star Tron opinions?

While at Lowe's and Academy, I came across a fuel preservative called Star Tron, which is sold in a clear bottle. I have been using Sta-bil for a while as a precaution, but decided to check out the Amazon reviews on this, which were good overall. I decided to give it the acid test because the last container of gasoline that I used caused the generator to hunt when on economy mode. I then bought premium Chevron gasoline, added Star-tron, and it seems to have gotten rid of the surgings. Maybe this is a placebo effect, but I wonder if anyone else on this forum has any opinions, good/bad/ugly on this fuel additive.

  • I started using it because the people I know who have boats tell me its the latest and the greatest.
The claims mfr makes for the product make it appear to be something like snake oil but all I can say for sure is all my engines start better than before, even the small engines that sit long periods without being used.
I now use it in everything.
I just bought a gallon of the product on Amazon for less than $100.00, about 25% less than the Walmart price when you buy it in the small bottles.
  • I have been using it two years now instead of Sta-bil. I always thought things didn't run as well with the Sta-bil in it but with Star Tron I also noticed improved running. As another bonus its suppose to keep the fuel fresh for 2 years instead of 1.
  • I've been using StarTron for the last few years for gas and diesel fuel. For me - it takes less, lasts longer (both shelf life of the open container and how long it protects), and just plain works better.
  • Sta-bil is only a preservative, it won't clean dirty carbs etc.. Also look at SeaFoam.. good reputation with Gas engines..
