One guy here (I hope he is happy wherever he is now), said that solar is "all or nothing" affair.
Sun shining, no trees, not terribly hot, you don't run fans all day on high, - then 400W will keep battery full.
Clouds, Ca "marine layer", rain, - and with 700W solar you still need to run a generator.
Big battery bank could help riding out a bad spell but you still need enough solar wattage to charge it quickly when sun shines again. Being a motorhome, you "might" discount the needed wattage a little, but alternator won't help if you are staying put for a few days.
