You want numbers? I got numbers.
I left the bank and came home sweet campsite to my killawatt meter.
Current freezer, the one mfr says is 1.8amps / 65watts is really 1 amp, 69 watts, on 117v AC according to the meter.
That's still not the 117 watts that it seems to me 1 amp should be, but at least it is closer.
Almot's $800 freezer in the link above is also 1 amp, 75 watt, and much larger. I'm gonna hazard my guess that the $50 craigslist freezer, currently 1500 miles away, is 3 amps and 210 watts. Yes, I pulled that number out of my azz.
So, calculating two ways, cribbing from Mr Tuna, above:
280 watts = 28 amp-hours. (allowing for inverter inefficiency).
28 ah x 12 h = 336 amp-hours.

4 amps @ 117 volts = 468 watts
468 watts = 47 amp-hours
47ah x 12h = 574 amp-hours
So, somewhere between 300-600 amp-hours.
4 x 135aH batteries = 540AH, 50% is 270, so I might really get 5-10 hours of freezer time.
6 x x135aH x 50% = 400aH, 8-14 hours freezers.
I rounded off on the hours bec it is all so unclear anyway.
